Deciphering My Love!

She picks toy one by one out of basket, examines it as though she is about to dissect and see what's in it - it's what is called being 'curious'.

She looks at me and puts her fingers in mouth purposefully - that's how she grabs attention.

She crawls all around the home and never sits still at place - that's how active she is.

She comes to me at anytime of day and stares at what I eat or drink - that's how interested she is in new things on plate.

She hates to sit in carseat or go out to restaurants - that says she just want to be free to move around.

She loves if I sing a rhyme or read books - that's how she says she likes to learn.

She comes to hug, kiss and squeeze me - that's her love to me.

She laughs aloud and giggles - that when she is excited.

She gives a smile when I ask her questions, do you want curd? shall we go for stroller walk - that's an 'yes'

She squeezes her face which then turns red - that's when she is busy pooping.

She is still at one place - that's when she is trying to hand pick some thing from floor.

She streches her hand forward towards an object - that's when she wants that object.

She grunts and screams while feeding - that's when she is done with eating.

She is cranky and rubs her beautiful eyes - that's when she is sleepy.

She is one who keeps me active 24/7, a priceless gift for me, a treasure. Thank God for giving such a lovely daughter for life.

My Chef cap on : Vegetable Biryani

Well, well after making this dish - The Vegetable Biryani for about ten plus times finally liked what I made recently. Though this is not an authentic vegetable biryani this version is still a finger licker :)
Here is the colorful aromatic dish and one of the favourites among my family.

Receipe through photos follows :

Cut the vegetables of your choice, usually carrots, potatoes, beans, onions, peas and capsicum are used. You can add paneer too.
In a vessel, put oil - little more than what's required for vegetables to cook.
Add whole garam masalas - cloves, cardomom, pepper, cinnamom, cumin, red chillies and bay leaf.
Add onions, followed by the vegetables of your choice and green chillies.
Sautee this mixture till the vegetables are half done.
For briyani vegetables are cut in to medium large size.

While your vegetable mixture is getting cooked, we can start to cook rice. Basmati rice is preferred, as it's aroma and texture are what rightly required for the Biryani.
Cook the rice along with whole garam masalas - cloves, cardomom, pepper, cinnamom, cumin and bay leaf. Add little salt because you have to add salt in the vegetable mixture too.

Once the vegetable are cooked, add ginger and garlic paste and saute for 2 minutes.
Add red chilli powder, cumin powder, corriander powder and salt.
(This dish is very rich in masalas, add masalas as per your taste)
Cook the above mixture and occasionally give it good mix, so vegetables are quoted with all the masalas.
Better taste the dish now and adjust as per your taste salt and spice.

Add yogurt to this mixture, this is done almost at the end once your vegetable are cooked fully.
By now you will have a vegetables in a gravy, with oil floting on top here and there.

Add coriander and mint leaves and mix.
Love the color of these leaves on the gravy in background, the aroma is very tempting to attack this dish now and we can do so as we are almost done.

Before attacking, we have to do important step - put vegetables and rice in layers.
For layering :
Soak saffron in water or milk, chop cilantro, roast cashews and raisins in clarified butter (ghee) and finally deep fry onions which are thinly sliced. These fried onions have a sweet taste which some what balances the spiced up rice.
Take a big bowl and first put a layer of vegetable mixture and then rice followed by cashews and raisins, cilantro, fried onions and saffron this forms one layer, continue the same till your vegetables and rice are all used up.

Here is the final top view of the yummy Vegetable biryani :)

Serve with plain yogurt or raita.
For raita, chop cucumbers, onions, tomatoes and green chillies mix with yogurt. Add salt as per taste and garnish with cilantro.

Enjoy this home made easy version of Biryani.

My Brother who is better cook than me used to make this dish really yum but his version was always loaded with lot of spices, I make it with medium spices so above I didn't write in terms of quantity of ingredients to add, it depends on once taste. Try, experiment and find out the perfect receipe yourselves :)

GoodBye Cincy!

As Life goes we meet strangers,
time makes them dear and near to you,
as days pass you will have a friend for life who was stranger in past.

As life goes on only thing constant is change,
we have to move leaving behind people we love and care,
moving ahead to meet new people and make new friends.

All our life's revolves around the way I have put in above lines. Sometimes it's hard to move on and accept the change, its difficult to come out of the comfort zone one had with friends around but that's how it works, one has to get going to achieve better things in life be it professional or personal as opportunities are rare and as rightly said - Oppurtunity knocks only once.

It's easy to move on if you have right attitude, that's being positive. Hoping the new phase will be better, somewhere a house waits to be made your sweet home and strangers are out there who might become your friends for life too.

I am writing all this because we had to just move from our beloved city of Cincinnati which was home for us for four years, where I have learnt things, met wide rage people who have thought me many things and this has helped me somewhat to see life in different perspective. This blog is to mark all those memorable moments of last four years.

Pacific North West

The vacation to Pacific North west was in our to do list this year but I was bit reluctant as we had 9 month old baby to travel with us. Nevertheless my husband dragged me into this and we did it no regrets and credit goes to our baby who was so much cooperative in this week long trip were in we travelled by all means of transportation air, land and water.

Mt Rainier

We took off from Cincinnati to Seattle, 4 and half hour flight our little angel managed it smoothly. From Seattle we drove straight to Mt Rainier National Park. Stayed two night at National Park Inn, a warm cozy place. Next day it was cloudy and Mt Rainier was engulfed in huge cloud most of the day and by evening it started to come back to view and there she was clam and beautifully standing. The park has many trails which doesn't disappoint anybody, we took :
Groove of Patriachs - after a beautiful drive along Steven Canyon, we headed to the trail and got see Douglas Firs, red cedar trees a memorable walk through old growth forest.
Nisqually Vista - easiest trail in Paradise area of park and gives breath taking view of Mt Rainier which stands decorated among beautiful strech of wild flora. This was my favourite spot in park, trully a paradise on earth.
Trail of Shadows - small simple trail in Longmire area, we took this early in morning the fresh air amidst the trees in forest and green meadows gave good kick to start a long day of hiking.
Reflection lakes - lakes are spread through out the park and sight of reflections of Mt Rainier on surface of silent water is breath taking, one can sit for hours admiring the beauty of mountains, the reflections and the calm serene environment.
We wrapped our MtRainier Visit with the beautiful sunset view at Paradise area, from there we drove to Mt St Helens.

Mt St Helens

Through out the drive to Mt St Helens there are many view spots which gives you good view of the entire area, this historic place is part of Pacific Ring Of Fire. The place where most devasting volconic eruption occured in 1980, Johnston Ridge Observatory screened movies which are very informative. Weyerhaeuser has hand planted around 18 million seedlings in this area which was swept away by the eruption, as we drove through those trees we were apprecitive of this initiative as today these sappling stand about 70 feet tall filling the entire area green where once it was covered by mud ash.

Quinault Rain Forest

Lake Quinault Lodge

Next we headed to Olympic National Forest, Olympic National Park and Forest are interwined. Beautiful fresh greenery through out, entired Quinault Rain Forest first this was my first visit to rain forests hence I was excited to see the immense fresh lush green trees, plants and wide variety of fauna extensive vegetations and ecosystem live. The stay at lake Quinault lodge was comfortable, an authentic lodge facing prestine lake Quinault, calm and peaceful.

Ruby Beach - Sunset

We drove to Ruby Beach during sunset and there it was diminishing sun, cool breeze, whispering waters at shore, here and there standing proud rocks enjoying as water splashed at them now and then and sun set spread exotic mix of colourful rays which was worth to just stare and stare and we stood there admiring the beauty of nature at its best.

Hoh Rainforest

We continued our trip next day to Hoh Rainforest populated with different variety of trees and unique compared to Quinault Rain forest in vegetation, water stream in trails and greenery just lead us effortlessly in to forest.

Lake Crescent - Sunset

We reached lake Crescent that evening, a huge deep lake and water has bright blue color, mountain view with water between gives a spectacular view especially during sun set.

Mountains view at Hurricane Ridge

The last stop was Port Angeles the Hurricane Ridge, wild flowers everywhere and lots of trails which gives specatacular views of mountains in the area, got to see the Cascades ranges too. The drive to Hurricane ridge itself was very scenic and as we descended higher it was getting more and more beautiful.

Thus comes an end to the exhilarating journey of Pacific North West, biding adieu to the mountains, wild flowers, unique trees and fresh air. As we roamed thorughout this area in one place or the other we could always spot the bold and beautiful Mt Raineir as she stood there high and proud gaurding the entire region. Truly a must trip to make if you like outdoors, trekking and nature lover.

Flash Back

Few instances in my life, which have taught me a lesson:

In my school days I had a hobby of collecting proverbs, in my dairy I have over thousands of them. One of my friend had asked me, what's the use of collecting and writing them, I then had just replied its my hobby and I liked writing down the lines which meant me, which inspired me. One day I started to read my collection, few lines made me confident, few thrilled, few made me understand way of life basically they taught me to be better and from then on I always read my collection. This taught me to do what I like and without thinking whether it will be of any use or not, I look this instance as an analogy to my daily life too, do what you want and like without bothering what you get from doing it even the momentary bliss you get from doing what you like is enough.

My Grandpa always emphasized on grammar of English language, he used to throw questions to me and my cousins every time he used to say English is very important, learn the basics of language, having good command over the language is very essential to be successful in any field. As a kid we all were eager to get away form this lecture as quickly as we can but over the years those words of his kept on lingering in my mind, every time I prepared for competitive exams I understood how shallow my knowledge of English was, I always thought if one knows to speak and write that was enough but I failed to understand how important it is to know Grammar, the semantics of the language I regret it today as I am not fluent writer, words don't flow out of me nor a avid reader hope I overcome both of these, better late than never.Wish I had continued my habit of story writing.

My Mom put me into Bharatanatyam dance class, I did really like it and did a stage show too. In between we shifted our home and in the new vicinity there were lots of kids, playing took a priority over my dance classes and those classes went for toss, I discontinued them and regret it till date. As a kid sure I was distracted and we all do but loss is too much to repair. Listen to elders may not be always but they now better than us and have better perspective than us experience teaches everybody good take from this for me was remain focus and determined in what you want no matter what comes over.

I could never be friendly to person who as once spoiled the friendly space between us, any act which hurt me by the other person was enough reason for me to distance me from that person. But lately, I have realized that giving other chance to the relation is really worth it. No body is perfect we all make mistakes accepting a person in spite of his or her negatives is how life goes on, its is how we happen to make few friends for life time that's the reality. One way if you think, it gives a better bonding that way because you know the true nature of person and it won't hurt you as you are well aware of other person's attitude. If you like or love a person accept them as they are, it's not true only in case of life partners it does mean to any kind of relationship in life.

GOAL

When people ask me, what you want your kid to be? I always say I want my kid to have Goal. I believe setting a goal, discovering a goal in one's life is very important. Having a goal gives you a desire to live, by this I don't mean one can't live life without having a goal, ofcourse one can but somewhere sometime feeling of hallowness will always haunt, this is my personal experience. Setting a Goal has truly made me better and have sense of control over the way I am leading my life.

There is no precise or hardcore age before which you have to set a goal. Get exposed to variety of fields, discover what interests you, experiment with your interests during this course of journey sure you will have set yourself a Goal, dreaming of what you can achieve by reaching the Goal you have set. So dreams are also equally important, this pushes one to work harder, be disciplined to acquire what you want and gives you a urge to overcome hurdles which are for sure to be in right path. Perseverance is very important in the process as competition is high.

Enjoying the path to reach the Goal is also as essential as reaching it. There is no use if one just strives for the sake of it, got to be passionate then the journey seems to be cake walk though it isn't one.

Recently, I ran a trail of 2 miles continuously and this I had never done before. I used to take breaks in between but ran non stop first time. When I started the trail only thing which was in my mind was to enjoy the trail and run as much as I can as I began to run I encountered other runners passing me and some coming back reaching the destination seeing them gave me a sense of 'Do It now' and pushed me to run further while I felt exhausted but I decided to continue forward and complete the trail, the bliss after doing it was indeed worth the hard work.
On my way back was when I thought this as an analogy to life time Goal. Society can push you forward and help you advance at same time can be negative too it's up to us for whom we lend hand to and whom we decline. Never let your urge to achieve Goal perish.

All Day and night I strive hard, I have a dream to fulfill.
Everyday I think about my dream and push forward to reach the Goal I have set.
One small step each day, gives a sense of nearness to target.
As day pass this incredible journey gives eternal bliss.
Focus, discipline and perseverance may all three be with you always.
Have a Goal, reach it, acquire it and enjoy it.

Lines 4 - Love

Lost in each other they were both,
unware of surroundings they were both.

Thunder stuck loud and down came the rain,
this pushed them more close again.

There was fun and frolic around,
as everybody around were enjoying the rain.

Both remained glued and inseparable,
love was in air with eyes stuck only on each other.

Shyness filled her as he pulled her near,
her eyes lowered down as he moved her hand around her.

Her heart beat increased as never,
he felt the urge to be more closer.

They were pushed to corner by crazy peers,
who were enjoying the rain and were having dancing fever.

Both were grateful to be alone and were deeply stuck together,
the moment was heaven for both and lost were they in each other.

Then came the bump on road, breaks were sudden both were on road.
The truck came over them crushing, mashed were their petals and stems lay crushed.

Together they laid there on ground,as vehicles passed over them on and on.

The rain washed them off, their love was as short as their fragrance
but the joy of the moment was eternal.

Lines 3 - Spring

The spring is here, after a harsh winter.
Fading the angelic look by snow, the spring is here.

The spring is here looking fresh,
the leaves are out green to refresh.

The spring is here blooming wide,
the flowers are out with pride.

The spring is here filled with fragrance,
the butterflies are busy sucking flowers with elegance.

The spring is here people are active in garden,
children are waiting to see the plants grow taller,
to see the flowers come out brighter, the spring is here.

A tribute to the Legend

Mr Rajesh Khanna..my Father introduced me to this marvelous actor through a cassette 'Golden Collection of Rajesh Khanna' by T-series. Countless times I have heard songs from that cassette. There was span where daily I used to listen to those songs during my teens the slot I had allocated was during my breakfast time, though few of the songs are sad I enjoyed the lyrics the truth in the lines so apt to real world. The first time I saw the cassette my father had bought I didn't have much interest as Rajesh Khanna was a faded superstar as my Father played the cassette the lyrics caught me, it was like this is so true..as if some ordinary person is speaking his mind. Though I hadn't seen any movies of his till then I had become his fans because of these songs and few are also morals.

'Kuchh to log kahenge logon ka kam hai kahana,
chhoro bekara ki baton men kahin bita na jae raina..'

'Zindagi ek safar hai suhana
Yahan kal kya ho kisne jaana..'

'Pyaar diwaanaa hotaa hai, mastaanaa hotaa hain
har khushee se, har gam se, begaanaa hotaa hain..'

Following songs are blend of romance with sense of pain too..I hadn't watched any of these movies yet could imagine the scenario. Sometime I was so lost in the feelings I was unaware of tears in my eyes.

'Jeevan Se Bhari Teri Aankhen
Majboor Karen Jeene Ke Liye..'

'Yeh jo mohabbat hai yeh unaka hain kam
mehbub kaa jo bas lete huye nam
mar jaye mit jaye ho jaye badanam
rehane do chhodo bhee jane do yar, ham naa karenge pyar.....'

'Kahin door jab din dhal jaye
saanjh ki dulhan badan churaaye chupake se aaye
mere Kayaalon ke aangan mein
koi sapanon ke deep jalaaye deep jalaaye
kahin door jab din dhal jaye
saanjh ki dulhan badan churaaye chupake se aaye..'

'Mere Dil Mein Aaj Kya Hai Tu Kahe To Maein Bataa Doon..'

'Woh shaam kuchh ajeeb thi, yeh shaam bhi ajeeb hai
Woh kal bhi paas paas thi woh aaj bhi kareeb hai..'

'Mere Sapnon ki raani kab aayegi tu
aayi rut mastaani kab aayegi tu
beeti jaaye zindagaani kab aayegi tu
chali aa tu chali aa..'

Song which made people crazy
'Roop tera mastana, pyar mera deewana..'

This unforgettable collection and the tribute to Indian Cinema by him will never be erased no matter how many generations come he is not a faded superstar but one of the legends of Indian cinema.

July 18th 2012 he left all of us physically but he is always in our hearts and feelings.

Rest In Peace Mr Rajesh Khanna ji.

Cool stuff

Few things in my day to day life which I find extremely helpful, thanks to the cool ideas and these inventions.

Toaster/rice cooker - these automated electric appliances are such a time savers. Who could have imagined years back that there would be appliances which can toast the bread and cook rice but yes we have them today. You don't have to be around them when they are working that's what makes them my favorite and top in my list.

Dial phone numbers by the letter reference - isn't this a boon for people like me who are bad with memory.

IPAD - I haven't opened my laptop since IPAD arrived home. I use it for reading, gaming, making video call, entertainment though it isn't a substitute for my laptop but as of now I can do all things which I want to using only it.

Google call phone - saving me money as I use it most of time to make call there saves my mobile calling card balance.
Voice/video over internet - saves me money again I use it almost daily for an hour making international video call. I wouldn't have offered to talk daily for so long using calling card.

This list is sure to increase.

Pals

Time spent with them will never fade, even pass decades. They are precious friends.

As life goes we meet people, right from the time we enter this world to till we leave we are part of this amazing human network. Some people we meet become best pals, that first hello or first smile to a stranger can lead to a long way, it has in my case.

I am a sort were I can't jump into people and make friends easily, I am social but to call a person as my friend it takes time. Once I call never it will fade but I do have few instances where it has been bad but I take it for good because those bad moments gave me my friends who are till date best. I have seen people who can just make friends on a fly but mostly the relation is short lived, have come across such mainly when they have some benefit personally call them opportunist I am victim of such people too but again its fine with me no worries as there are so many people around and when this happened I was still in my teens, if this would have happened in my twenties I would be hurt not from the other person but because of my inability to see the true self in other person and thankfully this has never happened. All bitter experience with people in schooling and teens have taught me a lot and that's what made me have a small circle of friend who I can call as best on any day of my life. I had never intended to become best pal looking at a person all my best pals just happened as a matter of time, I didn't even realize when the relation between that stranger and me turned into a beautiful bond of friendship.

Life'z been busy for all of us now as most of us have our own family to take care, career to run behind amidst all these its nice to be in contact with all friends thanks to the emails which have made communication so much easy and fly through. Personally I do a strict no to social networks as I find them extremely public though you can make conversation private some how I am uncomfortable to chat with my buddies thorough it I would rather prefer a private email. It feels sad some times that we can't catch up as old times as we have so much on our plate already or because of distance between us but also good at least we know whats happening in each others life. Its nice thing when stranger become friend but not when friend turns to a stranger. As life goes on making friends isn't easy as at work we come across colleagues a sense of competition, ego, comparison too much of negatively the place truly not for friendship if not everywhere in most of scenario its a fact. The old buddies are the one who will never change for you so treasure them, be in touch with them life isn't so busy that you can't spare few minutes one day to write to your friends or even talk to them don't wait for it to come from the other end its not a client requirement you see. I was lost too in my own world as I write my thoughts thinking of my friends paralley emailed them too :)

B'day

Surprises!! Not all like them, those who like them prefer only good ones. Isn't it nice to have good surprise on your birthday, that one special day of the year which you were born years back. Well, this post isn't about surprises its about birthdays.

The day which we enter into this wonderful world out from mother's womb, out from silence to noise, out from dark to light. We feel so much is going around us suddenly and the day which we are going to celebrate each year 'the birthday'.
As a kid I always waited for this special day, waited to get pampered with new dress, chocolates, gifts from friends the joy of unwrapping them, the whole class standing and wishing Happy Birthday and no scoldings from anybody just that 24 hours, a sense of my day. In college where each class had about hundreds of pupils, where everybody aren't friends celebrating birthday was different, private celebration among friends circle and treating at restaurant. In degree college it continued the same way but added more outing like going to movie with friends or hang out in city centers. But at home it was always the same warm wishes of parents and relatives which never change.

Now as I am in my late twenties I think, this day is also the day where I am getting old each year with which my responsibilities increase followed by change in priorities and there are the goals to be reached.

I wonder why this thought came to me, is this what we call lose of innocence which we will be as kid, why do one think in such an angel is it that only me who is thinking in this bizarre angel or is it very ordinary thinking which crosses every bodies mind, I don't know but I just felt like putting it down here.

Precious U

As I am finding it hard to alot an hour time of my day to fitness I envy the lifestyle of people before 90's. I have seen the way my grand parents led life, their daily chores itself was enough to keep them fit.

Chores such as drawing water from well, pumping water as there were no water pipes to supply water directly to home. No vaccum cleaners to clean the floors, got to sweep and wipe no matter how big the house and had to be done daily. No washing machines, loads of clothes washed by hand. Bicycles use was more, on the contrary we do stationary cycling for hours in gym. I have seen my grandma grinding grains too, thinking of it now I realize how good exercise it is, move the entire upper body clockwise and anticlockwise. Climbing steps to reach the terrace, of course there were no multistory buildings but even climbing ladder to reach the first floor is good physical work. Walking miles to reach fields or workplace and kids miles to reach schools. Many such activities which we barely do now or rather none.

Advancement in machinery have no doubt made life easy and human body rigid everything happens at press of button. In this daily busy schedule where we all are busy running running hope at least we know what we are running after we must try and squeeze in that precious hour to take care of our body. I do think on these line and start of strictly to workout which continues for week and sometimes for months too but somehow caught in this ocean of life my efforts are in vain but I try to gather all the will and dream to make it a routine in fact such thoughts drive me to write this too.
